POLICIES & WAIVERS
FALL & SPRING SEMESTER POLICIES
General Registration Requirements
Please Note: Students may not attend lessons, classes, workshops, rehearsals, or productions until all required registration forms, policies, and waivers have been completed and confirmed by the PAC office, and tuition has been paid in full or an approved payment plan has been established. Tuition rates are the same for in-person, virtual, and hybrid instruction. Tuition pricing is the same regardless of the method of payment.
Beginning Private Lessons
New students are encouraged to schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation with their instructor before committing to a semester of private lessons.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of registration and must be received by the PAC office on or before the first day of lessons, classes, workshops, rehearsals, or productions. Limited need-based scholarships are available. Please contact the PAC office for additional information.
Payment Plans
Payment plans are available for private lessons and select programs as specified. Private lesson tuition is divided into four payments, with registration fees included in the tuition.
Fall Semester Payment Schedule
- Upon Registration
- October 1
- November 1
- December 1
Spring Semester Payment Schedule
- Upon Registration
- March 1
- April 1
- May 1
Payment plans constitute a financial commitment for the entire semester. If a student withdraws before the semester concludes, the remaining tuition balance remains the responsibility of the student or parent/guardian.
Late Fees
Payments received after the scheduled due date are subject to a $20 late fee.
Accompaniment Fee
An accompaniment fee of $30 per semester may apply. Voice students receive a rehearsal with a piano accompanist in preparation for the student recital, and the accompanist performs with the student during the recital. This fee may also apply to students studying other instruments when accompaniment is required.
Refund Policy
Tuition, registration fees, and payments for lessons, classes, workshops, productions, and other programs are non-refundable, except when a program is canceled by PAC. Tuition credits may be granted for extended illness or injury with written documentation from a licensed physician. Any tuition or lesson credits issued by PAC must be used within one (1) year of the date they are issued. PAC reserves the right to consolidate classes, substitute instructors, or make reasonable program changes when necessary.
Missed or Cancelled Lessons
Each student is permitted one excused absence per semester, provided the instructor receives at least 24 hours’ notice. Notification should be made directly to the instructor. The excused lesson will be rescheduled at a mutually agreed-upon date and time. Lessons missed without at least 24 hours’ notice, including no-shows, are forfeited and are not eligible for a make-up lesson. If an instructor must cancel a lesson or class, it will be rescheduled during the designated make-up period or at another mutually agreed-upon date and time.
Class Cancellations
PAC reserves the right to change schedules, combine classes, substitute instructors, or cancel programs based on enrollment, staffing, facility availability, or operational needs. In the event of inclement weather or other emergency closures, updates will be communicated through PAC’s website and other official communication channels.
Health and Wellness Policy
To help maintain a healthy learning environment, students who are experiencing a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms of a contagious illness should not attend lessons, classes, workshops, rehearsals, or productions. If a student becomes ill while participating in a PAC program, a parent or guardian may be contacted and asked to pick up the student promptly. Students who miss instruction due to illness should notify their instructor as soon as possible. Any make-up lessons will be handled in accordance with PAC’s Missed or Cancelled Lessons Policy. PAC reserves the right to require a student to leave a lesson or class if they appear too ill to participate safely or may pose a health risk to others.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for their scheduled lesson or class. Parents or guardians are responsible for escorting students to their lesson or classroom, for remaining with the student until the instructor begins the lesson or class and for picking up the student promptly at the conclusion of the lesson or class. PAC faculty and staff are not responsible for supervising students before or after scheduled lesson or class times.
Emergency Contact Information
A current emergency contact must be provided for every student. For students under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must provide current emergency contact information at the time of registration. Parents or guardians are responsible for notifying the PAC office promptly of any changes to emergency contacts, phone numbers, medical information, allergies, or other information that may affect a student’s participation or safety. In the event of a medical emergency, PAC will make every reasonable effort to contact the student’s parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian cannot be reached and immediate medical attention is necessary, PAC staff may contact emergency medical services (911) and take any reasonable actions necessary to protect the student’s health and safety.
Student Code of Conduct
Students are expected to:
- Arrive on time and prepared for each lesson or class.
- Treat instructors, staff, fellow students, instruments, equipment, and facilities with courtesy and respect.
- Follow instructor directions and contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Students whose behavior is disruptive to instruction may be asked to sit out temporarily or leave the lesson or class. Students exhibiting unsafe, threatening, abusive, or destructive behavior may be removed immediately, and a parent or guardian will be notified. PAC reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student whose behavior repeatedly violates these expectations.
SUMMER LESSON POLICIES
Registration and Payment
Summer lessons are offered on an ad hoc basis. Students should coordinate directly with their instructor to determine the dates, times, and number of lessons they wish to take before registering for the appropriate lesson package.
Payment requirements and accepted payment methods should be discussed directly with your instructor.
Scheduling
The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC) does not maintain regular office hours during the months of July and August. All lesson scheduling and communication regarding lesson times should be handled directly with your instructor.
Payment Plans
Because summer lessons are scheduled on an individualized, ad hoc basis, payment plans are not available.
Missed or Cancelled Lessons
Policies regarding missed lessons, cancellations, and make-up lessons vary by instructor and should be discussed directly with your instructor before lessons begin.
Refunds
Refund policies for prepaid summer lessons are determined by each instructor and should be discussed directly with your instructor prior to registration.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
All students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times while in the building.
Because PAC does not maintain regular office hours during the summer months, we must comply with St. Andrew’s Safe Church Policy. This policy requires that at least one additional adult be present in the building whenever an instructor is teaching a student under the age of 18.
Student Code of Conduct
Students are expected to arrive on time for all lessons and classes, prepared to participate and engage respectfully.
Students who engage in unsafe, disruptive, or destructive behavior may be dismissed from the lesson or class. In such cases, a parent or guardian will be notified immediately.
WAIVERS
Injury and Limitations of Liability
PAC and its faculty are not liable for personal injuries or loss of or damage to personal property while participating in lessons, classes, workshops, productions, or any PAC related event. Since some classes involve physical activity, injuries may occur. Each student may decline to participate in any activity that may be harmful and is responsible for informing the instructor of any physical limitations which prevent full participation in class.
Release of Image
The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC) may photograph, audio record, or video record lessons, classes, workshops, rehearsals, recitals, performances, productions, and other PAC-sponsored activities for educational, archival, promotional, and marketing purposes.
By registering for a PAC program, students (or a parent or legal guardian for students under 18 years of age) grant permission for PAC to use photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, or likenesses in print and digital publications, social media, the PAC website, promotional materials, fundraising materials, and other marketing communications without compensation.
Parents, guardians, or adult students who do not wish to grant this permission must notify the PAC office in writing before participating in any PAC program. PAC will make reasonable efforts to honor all written opt-out requests.
Statement of Health
In agreeing to the policies and waivers, customers certify that they/their children are healthy and may participate in all activities related to lessons, classes, workshops, and/or productions.
