Gabriela Ruíz, a native of Texas, grew up in Houston where she first discovered her love for music. While attending the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), Gabriela performed with the HSPVA Symphony, Houston Youth Symphony and the Virtuosi of Houston Chamber Orchestra and studied privately with Jennifer Keeney. Gabriela has been a winner of the HSPVA and Virtuosi of Houston Concerto Competitions and the Flute Society of Kentucky Collegiate Artist competition. Gabriela received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied with Marianne Gedigian. She received her Master of Music degree from the Boston University College of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Renée Krimsier and was named a semi-finalist for the New World Symphony in 2014.

 

Gabriela has a passion for teaching students of all ages. She has taught students of the Houston and Leander Independent School Districts, Longhorn Music Camp, and the Performing Arts Center of Metrowest. She currently resides in Jamaica Plain and continues to be an active performer, chamber coach, and teacher in the Boston area.
